Liquidity and access to Wall Street money is the goal of most biotechnology companies to fulfill the capital needs of an emerging pipeline of products. The traditional IPO is still valid, but the bar is rising each year. This panel will explore what it takes to do a successful IPO today and the pros and cons of the more creative approaches to achieving public status, including M&A, foreign exchanges, reverse mergers, etc.

Who's Who

Peter Wysong is Managing Director for Life Sciences with Natixis Bleichroeder. Prior to joining Natixis, Peter was Vice President, Healthcare Investment Banking at Susquehanna Financial Group (SFG). Peter has particular expertise in biotechnology and specialty pharmaceuticals and has significant execution experience across a broad range of products, including M&A advisory, initial public offerings, equity and equity-linked public offerings, PIPEs and registered directs and private placements. Before joining SFG, Mr. Wysong was a Vice President in the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at ThinkEquity Partners. Prior to ThinkEquity Partners, Mr. Wysong was a member of the Healthcare Investment Banking Group at Salomon Smith Barney/Citigroup. Mr. Wysong received a B.A. in Finance from the Eli Broad School of Business at Michigan State University.

Robert Power is Vice President - Global Corporate Client Group for the NYSE Euronext (NYSE: NYX). NYSE Euronext operates the world?s largest and most liquid exchange and offers the most diverse array of financial products and services. Prior to its merger with the New York Stock Exchange, he served as Director of Listings/Sales for the Archipelago Exchange (ArcaEx), the electronic stock exchange. Before joining Archipelago, Mr. Power held various senior positions at NASDAQ, most recently as Senior Vice President of the Market Intelligence Desk. Prior to NASDAQ, he was the Managing Director of Marketing for the American Stock Exchange. Mr. Power has a B.A. from S.U.N.Y. and an M.B.A. from Pace University. Mr. Power serves on the Advisory board of Pace University ?Lubin School of Business.

Mr Tracy T. Lefteroff, Global Managing Partner of Private Equity and Venture Capital, and Global Managing Partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers Life Sciences Industry Services, is in charge of services privately-owned and venture funded technology and life sciences companies worldwide. Mr Lefteroff has been significantly involved with services provided to a number of high technology companies and venture capital firms. Mr Lefteroff has been key to the development of strategic collaborative agreements with many of the major international pharmaceutical companies and has recently assisted in several high profile industry mergers. He has been with PWC for approximately 14 years, including three years in the Seattle, Washington office, where he has extensively involved with venture capital and life science clients. He resides in the San Jose/Menlo Park, California Offices.

Mr. Collins focuses his practice on representing companies in the life sciences and healthcare sectors. His representation for these companies covers general corporate matters, securities law, SEC registered offerings and private placements, strategic partnering and licensing. His life science clients include large pharmaceutical companies, such as Bayer Healthcare, publicly-traded biotech and specialty pharmaceutical companies, such as Enzon Pharmaceuticals, Obagi Medical Products, Osteotech and Alfacell, and leading privately-held life science companies such as Helicon Therapeutics, Tengion and Aerovance.
