8:30 am Opening Sponsor and Chairperson’s Remarks
9:00 am Positioning Workshop
Corporate positioning or branding in the life sciences industry is the framework that defines and differentiates your company. It is also the benchmark that gives you control over driving corporate valuation and the management of shareholder and investor expectations. Effective corporate positioning encapsulates future milestones, defines news flow, defines the business model and advertises the investment opportunity. During this workshop, you will learn to look at your company from 30,000 feet, formulate a strong and believable positioning statement, develop key messages for multiple audiences and build a foundation which guides all communications activities.
10:30 am Presentation Workshop – Fitting Your Company into 15 Slides (1 hour) The sale is sealed during the questions and answers after the formal presentation. This session introduces you to the tools to develop a 10-15 minute presentation that leads the investor to ask the right questions. You will also experience the dos and don’ts of formatting PowerPoint slides through examples.
12:00 pm Luncheon Panel Discussion - “How to Approach Investors” (1 hour)
The luncheon panel is made up of leading local venture capitalists in the life science field. Participants will have a chance to gain personal insight into the inner workings and thought processes of venture firms as well as the best ways to get in the door.
1:30 pm Speaker Training Workshop
The secret to a memorable presentation lies in the preparation, practice and passion. In this presentation skills workshop, participants learn: techniques to win the audience and improve delivery skills; how to state the bottom line up-front and reinforce key message; how to organize the key points of the presentation for maximum audience impact; and how to bridge tough questions over to key messages.
2:30 pm Breakout Workshops
Workshop participants will have an opportunity to put their new found skills to use on their own company or organization’s positioning or presentation with the assistance of the multiple faculty members. The workshop attendees will break-up in small groups of 3-5 people per faculty member and come away with either a new positioning statement, outline of a knockout slide presentation or experience rehearsing their presentation with expert speaker trainers.
